This former US Army ALCO switcher is the current primary yard power and the reserve locomotive for passenger excursions on the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad. It can be found in almost daily service on shop moves, full-line passenger operations, and transporting equipment for maintenance of the right of way, as the Mount Rainier Railroad continues its efforts to rebuild the infrastructure in its possession. On April 30th, 2025, as the railroad finalized the purchase of an important segment of trackage, the line's largest bridge was reported to have caught fire. It would soon be determined that this fire was intentional. The loss of the bridge has set back the railroad's efforts in expanding its operations and has hindered plans for revitalizing commerce in the region with the addition of freight service. While the railroad plans to rebuild, the road ahead will be difficult. 100% of the cost of this locomotive (minus sales tax or VAT in applicable regions) contributes to the railroad's fund for rebuilding the bridge and continuing its mission. These very limited models have been assembled using existing components and have been hand-finished and weathered by members of our US-based team.
Please note that this model has been hand-decorated - the finish may vary slightly between models.
