Designed by the American Association of Railroads as a standardized open hopper for transporting coal, the Two-Bay Offset Hopper could haul considerably larger loads than its predecessors. First appearing in the mid-1930s, these cars and future derivatives of the design would continue to operate in various capacities ranging from their original purpose of handling coal to hauling ore, ballast, and maintenance loads through the 1970s. Many examples of this popular design remain in existence to this day at museums and excursion railroads. The Bachmann Two-Bay Offset Hopper is scaled to standard gauge dimensions for operation alongside other models in our 1:29 Scale rolling stock line and features compatible AAR knuckle couplers.
