EMD GP9 - Norfolk & Western #521 (Redbird Scheme)

Built between 1954 and 1963, the EMD GP9 was the second “General Purpose” diesel locomotive developed by the Electro Motive Division of General Motors. With a higher horsepower output than the previous GP7 model, the GP9 found diverse use on railroads of all sizes, with more than 4000 examples delivered in just nine years. The type lasted in Class 1 service into the 1990s, and a number of examples remain in use on short line freight railroads to this day. Bachmann is pleased to bring the GP9 to our N Scale diesel locomotive series, featuring authentic paint schemes and Soundtraxx® Econami™ DCC.
