Commencing operation in 2004, the S70 is the archetype of modern North American light rail vehicles, having played a crucial role in the 21st-century rebirth of urban rail transit. First adopted as the vehicle of choice for Houston’s METRORail, the S70 today provides service on rail transit systems across the United States. With several configurations, the S70 is capable of providing effective service on both high-density streetcar-style systems and grade-separated light rail lines. Developed using official Siemens documentation, Bachmann is delighted to announce the HO Scale Siemens S70 as the first ready-to-run modern Light Rail Vehicle for the North American modeler. Arriving DCC Ready for operation under track or pantograph power, the S70 features two system-specific body configurations, prototypical details, and LED interior lighting.
